YM-36 South Yunnan Highlights Kunming – Tonghai – Jiangshui – Yuanyan ( 6D5N )

Day 01

Arrive in Kunming airport, meet the local guide and transfer to hotel. Your sightseeing begins at the Bamboo Temple, which is a Mahayana Monastery. Set in the tranquil hills just outside Kunming, this complex dates back to the Tang Dynasty. It is famous for its 500 life sized carved Arhats or disciples of Buddha. A special local delicacy Mushroom Hot Pot will be served as your dinner

Overnight in Kunming.

Day 02

After breakfast we take a two-hour drive south to Tonghai. On the way, we visit Xiushan park which is famous for its 800 year old Buddhist temples on this Holy mountain . Also we visit a Mongolian village ( Xinmeng Village ) where all the inhabitants are said to be the descents of the Mongolian conqueror-Kublai Khan. The drive continues for 2.5 hours to Jianshui.

Day 03

In the beautiful old town of Jianshui we explore the Confucious Academy, started in 1285 and the second largest in China and Double Dragon Bridge, built in 18th. Century, recognized as a masterpiece amongst ancient bridges. Finally, the beautiful Tuanshan Village. We continue to drive (150 km , about 3 hours) south to Yuanyang, dominated by the Yi and Hani nationalities. On the way you will visit a Hani village.

Day 04

Experience the high point of the trip: an early morning trip to the Hani Terraced Rice Fields. A photographers' dream, the rice fields are best seen in the evening and at dawn. Visit local morning market. After a leisurely lunchtime break in Yuanyang, we then drive back to Jianshui.

Day 05

After breakfast drive back to Kunming via FuXian Lake which is the second deepest fresh water lake in China, have a fresh fish lunch by the lake. Then drive back to Kuming and wander through the Bird and Flower Market.

Day 06

Depart Kunming.
