Jianshui-Yuanyang ( Hani & Yi minority area, 150 km, 3 hours ). Sightseeing includes the Double-Dragon Bridge and Tuanshan Village, famous for its very old typical Chinese traditional houses, the famous Ximen Dabang Ancient Well, bean curd workshops and Confucius Temple which is the second largest in China. In the afternoon we drive to Yuanyang.

Yuanyang. Experience the highlight of the trip: in the morning, dawn visit to Terraced Rice Fields. A photographers dream, the rice fields are best seen in the evening and at dawn. Visit local morning market. Visit the Hani village around Yuanyang with the day market if you are lucky.

Drive to Babao ( Zhuang minority area, 175 km, 5 hours ). Sights include forests, caves, karst formations and waterfalls. This scenic spot consists of four sections: Babao, Heye, Tangna Cave and Sanla Waterfall. It covers a total area of 68 square kilometers. Visit a small village near Babao and observe locals weaving.

We drive into the Mingshi ( 180 km, 5 hours ) countryside and take a bamboo boat down the picturesque Mingshi River ( about 45min ). Lunch in Longzhou, an ancient town in Guangxi province. The very first French Consulate was built here in 1887 and is still well preserved. Then to Huashan ( 3.5 hours ) to take a boat for about 1h and 30min to see the "Flower Mountain" and stay at Huashan ethnic culture village to enjoy dinner and a Dong minority dance spectacle at night.

Long drive to Sanjiang ( 500 km, 13 hours ), which is located at the junction of northern Guangxi, Hunan and Guizhou. It is an autonomous county consisting mainly of Dong Ethnic Tribe, which makes up more than 54% of the people in this county. Lunch on the way after passing Liuzhou.

Drive to Zhaoxing ( Dong minority area 146 km, 4 hours ), a lovely traditional Dong Minority Village with its remarkable five drum towers. Zhaoxing still boasts its traditional wooden structures, including a number of wind and rain bridges and theatre stages. Many of the town's inhabitants continue to wear traditional clothing and speak only their native Dong language. Surrounded by lush fields and hills, it is also a small oasis and well worth a day's stopover. Enjoy a dance and song spectacle performed by the Dong nationality.

In the morning visit Dong Village of Chejiang. Zhang Lu Village of Chejiang is the largest settlement of Dong nationality in China. Then to Sandu and walk in a Shui Village ( Shui/Water Nationality Village ). Lunch in Sandu. After lunch we drive to Kaili ( 200 km, 5.5 hours ), which is a city in the southeastern Guizhou Dong Autonomous Prefecture in Guizhou province. It has a population of approximately 450,000 and the area is 1306km². A significant population of the Miao and Kejia people groups live in Kaili. It is a popular destination for backpackers and others seeking to experience rural China. Visit a village famous for its paper handicraft. Paper workshops here are traditional and the paper-making process is well-preserved as a "living fossil". Almost every household in the village engages in paper production, "Dayanjiao White Paper Village Workshop" produces "paper flowers" which are popular in Japan, South-east Asia and other places.

Subject to the season today we will visit local Miao people and their villages. Miao people celebrate the famous Lusheng Festival, which is the one of the most important festivals for ethnic Miao groups in Guizhou Province. This is a colorful courting party replete with exciting bullfights, horse races as well as lusheng ( a traditional musical instrument ) playing, singing contests, costume shows and traditional dancing. The girls in their intricate silver head-dresses and beautiful embroidered costumes flaunt their wealth and beauty to attract their future husbands. The festival lasts for 4 to 6 days. You will be there for the best days to witness lusheng playing, costume shows, dancing and singing. You will be greeted at the festival by Miao girls eager to sing to you and share their plentiful rice wine. Take care to sip very little from each cup, as you may encounter as many as 16 to 20 cups on your way in. Then drive back to Kaili.

Drive to Huanping ( 86 km, 2.5 hours ). Huangping County covers a total area of 1,667.8 square kilometers and has a total population of 347,400 people, the vast majority of whom are Dong, Zhuang, Buyi and Miao ethnic groups. We drive to a Miao village to observe local girls weaving their beautiful embroideries.
