he Caotang Temple is situated at the north foot of Mount Qingfeng in today's Caotang Village of Hu County more than 50 Lis southwest of Xi'an City. It's a small part of the Xiaoyao Garden of the Yaoqin Era, and also the holy place for Jumoluoshi, a hierarch, to translate the sutra then. In those years, the place for translating the sutra was a simply and plainly built room. It was covered with grasses, so the temple got the name of "Caotang". In the west of the temple, "The Stupa of Jumoluoshi, the Rabbi of Sanzang," was built in the Tang Dynasty, it's 2.34 meters high with 8 sides and 12 floors. In the temple, there is also a freakish smog well known as "the smog of Caotang" as one of the most famous eight sights in Chang'an.
