Tourist Area of Tai'an City
Tai'an City, at the foot of Taishan Mountain is a famous cultural city with over one thousand years' history. This city has been built and developed for the reason of Taishan Mountain. Tai'an has been approved by the State Council as the first batch of cities to open to the world. It gathers the mountain, river and city together, and becomes a unique tourist city in the east of China.
Tai'an was named after Taishan Mountain and has the meaning of "the whole country will be peaceful if Taishan Mountain is in peace". The construction of the central city has been changing day by day since the reform and opening up. The ancient city Tai'an is presenting vigorous vitality with its infrastructure being improved continuously. The constructed area reaches 44.3 square kilometers with a population of 385,000 at present.
In the downtown area, there are simple and vigorous historical relics and splendid and magnificent palaces, and row upon row of modern buildings and prosperous streets or markets full of people. It is convenient for touring, relaxing, and shopping. The main famous scenic spots are Daimiao Temple-temple for the God of Taishan Mountain, Shuanglong Pool, Yaocan Pavilion, Lingying Palace and West Grand Mosque, German styled building in the railway station, Haoli Mountain, Naihe River Park, Tongtian Street, Wazi Street and Hongmen Street etc.
