There are minorities around Chengde such as Mongolian, Manchu, who have splendid history and culture. The main activities are to watch singing and dancing performances, sports, paper-cut, to taste the local snacks in Weichang County, Fengning County and in the city, and to ride horses and shoot arrows on the grassland, and to enjoy the beautiful nature.
In 1999 the Folk Customs and Tradition Zone has been opened in the suburbs of Chengde City, which makes it ideal for visitors from abroad to live in the common residence of Chengde. The activity is warmly welcomed by visitors.
