In downtown Yuyao stands the Longquan Mountain, from the half of which the Longquan Spring pours. The Longquan Temple, standing on the southern Longquan Mountain, has a history of more than 1,600 years. On the halfway up the mountain lies the Hometown Tablet Pavilion of Four Sages, in memory of Yan Ziling-the master of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Wang Yangming-the master thinker of the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Shunshui and Huang Lizhou-famous scholars of the late Ming Dynasty and early Qing Dynasty. Standing on the southern slope of the Longquan Mountain, the Zhongtian Pavilion is once the place where Wan Yangming gave lectures. Inside the Zhongtian Pavilion, there is an ever-flowing well called Longquan Well. It is said that the water of the well is connected with the sea and a black dragon hides inside the well. Su Dongpo, one of the greatest Chinese poets has praised that the water of the well tastes sweeter than the milk.
