Located in Xiaonan Street in Shenhe District, the Nanguan Catholic Church was founded by Fangrowang, a French missionary. It was burned by the Yihetuan in 1900 and was rebuilt on the original site by Sufy Lis, a French bishop in the South Manchuria Parish, with the reparations from the Xinchou Treaty. In typical Gothic style, the church is made of bricks, with a 40-meter-high bell tower. Covering an area of 1,100 square meters, it can hold up to 1,500 worshippers.
