Haihe River, the scenic axis of Tianjin, meanders through the downtown area of the city. Bridges built on the river are varied in styles. Pleasure-boats are moving to and fro on the river, tall buildings stand in great numbers, trees make a pleasant shade in the riverside park and birds sing and flowers give forth their fragrance. On the Haihe cultural Square are a carpet of green grass, eruptive fountains and hovering pigeons.
