Dagukou Fort Barbette is situated at the confluence of Haihe River and the Bohai Sea and is the "Screen of
Tianjin." Defenses were set up in the Ming Dynasty and the fort barbette constructed in the Qing Dynasty has gradually completed the defense system with "dignity, garrison, sea, gate and height" as the mainstay. The ruins of only three fort barbettes are left. The Dagukou Fort Barbette is the testimony of history of the Chinese nation, which resisted aggressors and defied brute force.
