Wenyou Tower, located in the northeast of Gaoyou, is a site of cultural relics under provincial protection. Built in 976 AD in the Song Dynasty, it is a building complex on the top of a hill.
It used to be a meeting venue of such ancient scholars as Su Shi, Sun Jue, Qin Guan and Wang Gong.
Around the tower are Sixian Temple, Hezan Hall, Yingcui Garden and Qinguan Study Tower. In the walls of the Hazan Hall, over 60 slabs are set with inscribed handwritings of Su Shi, Dong Qichang and Qin Guan.
In the southwest of Wenyou Tower sits the Museum of Gaoyou, with halls, corridors, pavilions and rockery, which adds to the classic elegance of the whole complex.
