In the 18th year of Emperor Qianlong (1753), the salt dealers of
Yangzhou began to build an imperial palace in the western park of the Tianning Temple. Halls and temples in various sizes were erected, all in grand and imposing styles.
The Imperial Dock was built in front of the palace. Emperor Qianlong took a boat here to enjoy sightseeing. Built with blue stones, it has been well preserved.
It had been designated as a starting point for Qianlong's Tour on Water.
