The Shuilu Nunnery is situated at the foot of the Mount Wangshun of Puhua Town 10 kilometers east of the Lantian County. It's like a single island suitounded by water on 3 sides. It was named as Shuilu Nunnery because of the green mountain erecting nearby and the circumfluence of the river. "Shui" means water, "Lu" means land. According to the folklore, it was built during the Tang Dynasty. The construction pattern of the nunnery is similar to that of an ordinary temple of Buddhism, it has 5 mountain gates in the front, 13 wing-rooms on each of the south and north side, 5 big halls on the west, which form a Sihetou compound. The most attracting thing is the colored mud wall statue, which was made by Yanghui, a famous statuary during the Tang Dynasty according to the folklore.
