Mosque in Alekushi was first built in 1777 during the regime of Emperor Qian Long. It is a famous Islamic Mosque in North East China. It is the only best preserved ancient architecture of traditional Chinese quadrangles style in Alekushi. The pattern and style is unique all around China.

220 years ago, our ancestors chose Xi Gang Zi as the building place for the construction of the Mosque, which satisfied the demand of Moslems in the city, it also explained the idea of Westward and the idea that Mosque should be circled by dwellings and the idea of myriad of stars surrounding the moon. It become a religious, church center and a place for all Moslems in North East China to do the service to Allah. A great part of the Mosque was burnt down during the reign of Emperor Tongzhi. The rebuilding construction began in 1890 and took 10 years to finish the whole project.
The Mosque we see nowadays was rebuilt 100 years ago, with classical and unique style. Jade Hall, Central Hall, Circling Hall and Mirror Screen Wall lies in the same axis from east to west. There are northern hall and southern hall on both sides of the axis, thus the whole building complex is in the shape of Chinese Character of Tu. The main structure-Jade Hall is the center of the Mosque and facing East, 11 meters long from north to south, 10 meters wide from east to west. On the first floor, there are 3 rooms, the second and third floors are Moon Watching Tower topped with selenium in the shape of bottle gourd. On the surface of the top, there is a crescent moon-the symbol of Islam. The Central Hall has 5 rooms 17 meters long and 7 meters wide. The Circling Hall has 3 rooms with the length of 11 meters and width of 7 meters. Jade hall, Central Hall and Circling Hall are called the Great Hall where the service offered by 1000 Moslems can be done there.
