Hunan Martyrs' Park Lies near Liuyang riverbank in the northeast part of urban area. The total area is 153.3 hectares, among which, the river area is 67.6 hectares. Now it is the biggest multi-functional park, which combines commemoration and tourism in the province.
The park consists of two parts: commemoration section and tourist section. The Memorial Tower to the Martyrs, which is 58.7 meters high, is erected among the green trees, such Chinese characters as Hunan Martyr Park Monument' which are written by Chairman Mao Zhedong are engraved on the body of the tower. The Memorial Hall displays about ten thousand martyrs' names and about ninety martyrs' photographs in the province. To the east of the memorial tower, a long corridor memorial pavilion in the style of the Song Dynasty echoes with the memorial hall, it is dignified, grand and magnificent. The tourist section is covered with forest, a winding path leads to quiet seclusion in the green forest. The tourists enjoying the beautiful lakeside scenery of Nianjia Lake would be reluctant to leave. In the recent years, Hunan Folk Custom village was founded in the northeast of the park, which covers an area of 5 hectares, the village is located at the foot of a hill and beside a stream. It is also a crisscross of network of gullies with bold and unconstrained waterfall.
