The Theatrical Stage of the Taogong Temple is located on both sides of the temple's arch-gate in Langli Town of
Changsha County. The stage is a spacious wooden structure and is flanked by well-built corridors. Under the front eave there is a tablet, on which the works "Antiquity Building" were inscribed. The stage was carefully designed with hooked beams and upturned corners and painted columns and carved pillars, suggestive of a feeling of primitiveness and simplicity. There is an open ground before the temple, covering an area of about 1000 square meters, on both sides of which, two old camphor trees were planted. Over the ground, there are three rows of granite stairs leading to the hall, each of them have 48 steps and are 4.5 meters wide. The steps can be used as seats for watching performances on the stage. The temple was built in the year 507, in the Liang Dynasty. This is the only existing ancient theatrical stage in Changsha.
