The mystic and beautiful Mt. Taowushan is located in a place 6.5 km north of Liuyand city. It extends from Jiaoxi in the west to Baogai in the east having 71 peaks. This mountainous range with so many beautiful peaks is abundant in natural
resources. It is famous for its pleasant landscape and a long history. It was known as Baiheshan, or white crane mountain, or known as Zhao wangshan. It is a sacred mountain of Buddhism famous both at home and abroad. The scenery area is divided into six scenic areas comprised of 43 scenic spots such as high gorges, plain lakes, primitive and antiquity pine trees, and ancient temples and monasteries which can be daed back 1100 years. The legend says that a monk named Zongzhi once lived heve and preached Buddhist Dharma in the mountains. Later, the religious activities were prevailing and prosperous. It is said that there had been four major Buddhist monks called Daowu, Shishuang, Baogai, and Daguang who all taught here, and Daowu was the most popular one at the time.
