
The tomb is located on the Fulongshan Mountain behind the Tongxi Temple in Pingtang Town of Wangcheng County. Zeng was buried in the place in the 11th year of the reign of Emperor Tongzhi of the Qing Dynasty. Covering an area of 300 square meters, the grave was built with cement and gravel and sealed on top with granite. It is semi-circular shaped with a diameter of five meters at the bottom. Though damaged, it is still two meters high. There are three tombstones behind it, and the main tablet is three meters high and two meters wide. The inscription reads "Here buried the grand mentor and the grand chancellor of the Hanlin Academy the Lord Zeng Guofan and his wife Madame Ouyang." The additional tablets are made with relief. In front of the tomb, there is a terrace for holding sacrificial ceremonies. There are two stone watchtowers on the east and west sides, with inscriptions of the east tomb watchtower and the west tomb watchtower of the grand academician Zeng. In 1988, the tomb was seriously damaged by grave robbers. In the same year, it was listed as a historical site under the protection of the municipal government. Zeng was the leader of the
Xiang Army, alias Disheng, a native of Xiangxiang County of Hunan Province. He was a metropolitan graduate during the years of the reign of Emperor Daoguang of the Qing Dynasty and the governor general of Jiangsu and zhejiang provinces and the imperial commissioner.
