
Confucius Temple, or known as Wenmiao Temple, is a palace complex modeled after the Confucius Temple in Qufu, Shandong Province. Located on the north side of Guizai Road of Liuyang City, the temple faces the street and has a hill at the back. It is 149 meters long from south to north, and 43 meters wide from east to west. There are 13 sections of constructions. It is one of the existing Confucius temples, which is well preserved.
The Guiwenge Pavilion, an additional building to the main structure at the rear, is the original site of the Liuyang Academy of Mathematics, the first natural science organization in modem China. There are also on desiplay some ancient musical instruments from Liuyang. The temple was once used as the campus of the No.1 Middle School of the City, Presently, it is the city's museum, and is designated as a historical site under the protection of the rpovince.
