
The Residence of Huang Xing is located at Liangtang of Huang Xing Town in
Changsha County. It was built in the early years of the reign of Emperor Tongzhi of the Qing Dynasty. It is an ordinary flat made of clay bricks and black tiles. On the 25th of October in 1874, Huang Xing was born in the house. In October 1912, Huang returned to Hunan and wrote a poem to cherish the memory of his native home. In 1981, the provincial government set aside a special fund to repair the house. Now the extant house includes the rear large living room, bedrooms on both sides and the front living room, bedrooms at the left and right wings, and chambers, and other rooms, totaling 12 rooms, His parents' bedroom is on the right side of the rear large living room and Huang Xing's bedroom on the left. In the rooms, the furniture and stationary articles used by Huang are on display and pictures of his daily life and the duplicates of calligraphy in his handwriting are displayed. A horizontal tablet inscribed with "the Residence of Huangxing" written by Liao Chengzhi is placed over the entrance gate. On the 10th of October in 1981, the dwelling was opened to the public.
