
Baoguang Temple is a key religious site under Sichuan provincial protection, and has been listed as a major temple of Han nationality by the State Council. It was originally built in the East Han Dynasty (25-220), and is now one of the four well-known temples in the reaches of the Yangtze River. The temple covers an area of 100,000 square meters, and has one pagoda, five main halls and 16 courtyards. The arhat hall has 557 gilded arhat sculptures. There is also a funerary stupa of the Tang Dynasty.
